Thank you for pounding another nail in the coffin of US/UK honesty in international affairs. The refusal of OPCW to deal with questions raised by people like Prof. Postol at the time was enough to convince me that there was something rotten happening. Whistleblower statements by OPCW field staff confirmed it. leMesurier's strange death was, well, strange. And OPCW's reliability was also compromised by its prejudicial and illogical handling of the Novichok affair. But if OPCW could be so thoroughly compromised, what UN agency was, or is, trustworthy?
Realistically, the overhaul should ideally involve a physical move away from New York and the US to a non-aligned country, ideally somewhere where the accumulation of diplomatic cashflows would benefit the local economy. This would also make it more difficult for US to hold UN agencies hostage. I don't know if that could be achieved by majority vote at GA or if UNSC approval would be required. US would threaten to withhold funds but they're already permanently delinquent - and it rather makes the point.

I suspect many UN agencies are compromised, to varying degrees. The UN needs, at the very least, major overhaul.

Whatever the attack was (or if there was one) I never believed it was the Syrian Govt.
What a splendid editorial which everyone should read.
thank you
Thank you Piers. Very important to keep setting the record straight, especially during this time of turmoil in Syria. Much appreciated.
no problem!
When you write an editorial like this (which is long) you know damned well most Americans won't read it.
THIS editorial is full of facts.
I will restack endlessly until you morons read it.

Indeed, terrible crimes are being covered up. I suspect we will learn more and more as time goes on.
